Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases

Pelvic inflammatory disease commonly called (PID)is an infection of the female reproductive organs,the uterus,fallopian tubes and adjacent pelvic structures.
It may spread to the abdomen and the perihepatic structures leading to irreversible damage of the organs.A woman menstruating and within the age range of 25 years below with multiple sex partners,does not use contraceptives and resides in an area with high wide spread of sexually transmitted diseases(STD)is more on the high risk of contacting(PID).
Pelvic inflammatory disease begins with infections that rises from the vagina and cervix into the upper genital tract.Chlamydia trachomatis is the most numerous sexually transmitted organism linked with PID.Other organisms involved in the paths genesis of PID include Neisseria,Gonorrhoea,Gardnerella and Vaginalis.Chronic pelvic pains happens to be one of the long term consequences of PID,and over a million w omen get PID yearly,and it is the leading cause of tubal infertility in young women but it can be prevented if STI are detected early and treated with immediate effect.
